Saint Martin Hospital records zero maternal mortality

Agomanya (E/R), Oct. 5, GNA- Dr. Charles Nyarko, Principal Medical Officer in charge of the Saint Martin De Porres Hospital at Agomanya in the Manya Krobo District, said the hospital recorded zero maternal mortality for the past three years.

He said the hospital has also for the past 10 years been training its own nurses to replace the aging personnel and was handling HIV/AIDS cases.

Dr. Nyarko was speaking at a ceremony to outdoor a new ambulance for the hospital on Friday, donated by Krobo Netherlands Foundation, a group of Dutch nationals, who adopted the area. Dr. Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, Eastern Regional Director of Health Services, urged the management of the hospital to maintain the vehicle so that it could last longer.

He appealed to nurses and other staff of the hospital to work harder to promote health delivery in the area. Dr. Cees Van Olst, President of the Krobo Foundation, was honoured and installed as a development chief of the town under the title, Dr Nene Tetteygua Aga. 5 Oct. 07
