Sagnarigu District confirms DCE nominee

Alhassan Mohammed Sorogudoo, president’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) of the newly created Sagnarigu District has been unanimously confirmed by the 31-member assembly.

All 31 assembly members voted for Mr Sorogudoo, who is in his early 50s and a social worker as well a businessman.

The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission led by Deputy Northern Regional Director, Mr Godwin Okley, and witnessed by some executives of the National Democratic Congress in the region, including Mr Bede Ziedeng, Regional Minister, and some chiefs and people of the district.

The Sagnarigu District Assembly was carved out of the Tamale Metropolis last year but could not elect a chief executive as the earlier nominee by the President was rejected.

In his message, Mr Sorogudoo thanked President John Dramani Mahama and the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to offer effective leadership to transform the district and the living conditions of the people. Mr Sorogudoo gave the assurance that he would run an open door administration.
