SAEMA to celebrate centenary anniversary

Sekondi, Dec 20, GNA – The Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) is to construct a two billion emergence and accident unit at the Takoradi Government Hospital.

Mr. Philip Kwesi Nkrumah, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), announced this at a soiree for newsmen to unveil the programme for the centenary celebration of the Assembly in Sekondi, on Friday. He said the Assembly approved the project, adding that, it would also assist to upgrade the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital into a Teaching Hospital.

Mr Nkrumah said the SAEMA was determined to complement the Government’s efforts to provide facilities for health institutions and would also come up with attractive packages for health personnel in the Metropolis.

He stressed the determination of the Assembly to assist in the establishment of a university in the Metropolis and promised that SAEMA would use its sister city relations with Boston and Plymouth, in the United States and Britain to promote the venture.

The Assembly was working towards the construction of a modern stadium to replace the Sekondi Gyandu Park, he said, adding that, it was in the process of acquiring land for the project while a member of the assembly had completed drawings for the stadium.
