Saeed Ibn wins Karaga NPP primary

Sulemana Ibn Saeed has been elected to contest for the Karaga parliamentary seat on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Saeed obtained 208 votes to emerge winner, beating Baba Wahab, who polled 168, and Imam Basha Firdaus who managed 28 votes on Saturday September 17.

The re-run was occasioned by the sudden decision of the party’s nominee for the seat, Ibrahim Basha Shaharawi, to quit the contest due to poor health.

The ballot was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), with the party’s First Vice Chairman F.F. Anto and Nasara Coordinator Kamaldeen Abdullah in attendance.

The victorious aspirant thanked the delegates for electing him, urging unity to ensure victory for the party at the polls on December 7. Mr Saeed also appealed to the losing candidates to join the campaign.
