Sacked corrupt judges to be disbarred

Names of all the 20 corrupt judges who have been dismissed by the Chief Justice are likely to be struck out from the register of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), StarrFMonline.com has learnt.

StarrFMonline.com sources say the leadership of the GBA, which is the Professional Association of lawyers in the country, will be holding a meeting anytime soon to decide the fate of the disgraced judges. insiders have revealed that the body is embarrassed by the conduct of the judges.

The Chief Justice Theodora Georgina Wood dismissed the magistrates and district court judges following a two-year painstaking investigations by undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Anas petitioned the chief justice to impeach 34 judges who were caught on video in his judicial corruption scandal.

About 130 other Judicial Service staff are being investigated over the undercover investigations.

The CJ has given the strongest indication that more judges are likely to face sanctions in the coming weeks once the probing committee finishes with its work.
