S. Korea special envoy to attend inauguration

SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) — South Korea will send a senior political aide of President Lee Myung-bak to Ghana’s presidential inauguration, the foreign ministry said Friday.

Ghana’s President-elect John Dramani Mahama will be sworn in next week after winning the December election.

Senior presidential secretary for political affairs Lee Dal-gon will leave for Ghana on Monday to attend the inauguration ceremony, ministry spokesman Cho Tai-young said in a statement.

South Korea is seeking to deepen economic ties with oil-rich Ghana, which posted a blistering 14.4 percent economic growth in 2011, according to the statement.
