Accra, July 19 GNA – Mr. Igor Mozgo, Press Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation on Tuesday called on the International community to abandon its double standards and help find possible solutions to the problem of terrorism.
“London events are yet another confirmation that we are all doing too little to unite our efforts to fight terrorism in the most effective way possible.”
Mr Mozgo made the call at the presentation of a documentary film entitled “Ordinary Terrorism”, in Accra. The film depicts atrocious crimes committed by terrorists in parts of the Russian Federation over the years.
It also seeks to inform the Ghanaian public about the repeated terrorists attacks on innocent Russian citizens and correct certain media reports that did not give true accounts of the issues in Chechnya and the Northern Caucasus.
Mr Mozgo said Russia was ready to work with the world community to streamline measures and intensify the fight against international terrorism. He said Russ ia had brought anti-terrorist themes onto the agenda of the Security Council of the United Nations and initiated a number of important decisions in the area of combating terrorism. The film, which was is four parts, shows a series of major terrorists attacks staged in Russia from June 1995 to October 23, 2003, when a group of 40 bandits took hostage of about 1,000 people in Dubrovka Theatre in Moscow.
It is based on unique video materials that terrorists themselves taped as documentary reports to their foreign patrons and sponsors.
