Rural Electrification Programme in progress- Dery

Nadowli, March 25,GNA- Mr Ambrose Dery, Upper West Regional Minister, has pledged the commitment of Government to the rural electrification programme.

He said such a commitment was not tied to the dumping of electric poles in beneficiary communities to achieve political points. “When you talk of having poles in your communities since 2000, and not being connected to the national grid, you also ought to ask those who supplied the poles to show you the contractor who was to execute the job,” he said in response to concerns raised by some community leaders in the Nadowli District about the delay in the execution of the programme.

The Regional Minister was interacting with the people during a courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of Nadowli, Daffiama and Bussie in the District during a familiarization tour. At Bussie, the Regent of the town, Mr Ben Nayiri expressed dissatisfaction that the Police Administration has ignored an application by the traditional authorities, for a police station since 1972, although the infrastructure for such a station was available.
