Rotary club supports rural school

The Rotary Club International has supported the Bumboazio La’angum Primary School in Gambaga in the East Mamprusi District with solar energy panels to provide power for the school’s computer laboratory.

The facility is made up of solar modules, sinewave inverter, laptops and deep cycle 100 ample hour battery.

Two rotary clubs from Watford and Wainwrite in Canada provided GH¢25,000 through the Tamale Rotary Club, to help promote teaching and learning.

Mr Alexander Kpodo, President of Tamale Rotary Club, who handed over the facility to the school officials at the weekend in Bumboazio La’angum, gave the assurance that Rotary would continue to offer the needed support to rural schools especially areas that lack electricity and water.

He said the facility was to compliment government’s efforts towards ensuring that all school children acquire skills in Information Communication Technology, by benefiting from Rotary’s projects.

Mr Kpodo pledged the Rotary’s continued support towards improving lives of the less privileged in the society, especially women and children. Ms Alice Iddi-Gubbels, Headmistress of the school, thanked the two clubs for the gesture and said the operationalisation of the computer would prevent absenteeism and increase enrollment.
