Rotary Club International donates to Physically Disabled persons

Koforidua, Oct. 31, GNA – The Ho Chapter of Rotary International on Friday donated 27 wheel chairs and seven bundles of sacks containing used clothing to physically disabled persons in the Eastern Region at Koforidua.

Mr Joseph Achana, President of the Club, who announced this, also said the group was putting up a building and offices for physically challenged people in the Volta Region.

He said the Club received the items from African Relieve Trust of the United Kingdom, and decided to donate some to physically challenged people in the Region .

Receiving the items, Mr Yaw Barimah, Minister of Manpower and Development and Member of Parliament for Koforidua South Constituency, thanked the Club for the assistance and promised to deliver the items to the Department of Social Welfare for distribution to the beneficiaries. He appealed to individuals and other associations to assist the physically challenged persons.

Mr Barimah said government was committed to initiating measures to raise the living conditions of the people.

In a related development, the Mobitel Company Limited presented ten phone chips, 120 pens and key holders to the physically challenged persons.
