Robbery attacks: Police cautions ladies

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has cautioned ladies to be extra vigilant when boarding taxis to avoid falling prey to robbery attacks.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Yussif Tanko, Head of Public Affairs Unit, warned of the operations of a syndicate that picks only lady passengers, robs and abandons them at places other than their destinations.

He told the media at a press briefing in Kumasi on Thursday that the police were on top of the crime situation and were doing everything to reduce the robbery menace but added that it was prudent for the public to be more cautious.

ASP Tanko appealed to ladies not to board taxi cabs with more than two men on board.

“You should also be quick to fiercely resist whenever drivers change the normal routes,” he said.

The caution comes in the wake of recent reported cases of car snatching involving criminals who offer drinks laced with sedatives to their victims and later rob them of their cars when they are dazed.
