Robbers kill one; others injured in Zebilla

One person was killed and two others critically injured in a robbery operation at Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.

An eyewitness told TV3 that four heavily armed robbers successfully robbed a wholesale shop full of provisions owned by one Alhaji Muntari. The robbers began firing indiscriminately into a crowd at the popular Akabaa’s street in the Zebilla township after an alarm was raised by the attendants and the nearby shop owners.

The robbers turned their anger on the attendants and shot at them. Unfortunately, one stray bullet hit and killed a middle-aged man.

The attendants Abdulai Awudu and Abudu Abdulai were rushed to Zebilla District Hospital for treatment. The body of the deceased, believed to be a Fulani, has been deposited at the Zebilla hospital mortuary.

According to another eyewitness, Nuhu Ibrahim, the four armed men were riding two motorbikes with guns suspected to be Ak 47 assault rifles.

The police were called to the scene but the time they arrived the robbers had bolted with their booty.
