Robbers attack OJK fuel filling station at Apowa

Armed robbers last Wednesday attacked and robbed OJK fuel filling station at Apowa in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region.

The robbers made away with three mobile phones, a laptop and a cash amount of GHc1, 700 while the security man on duty was severely injured in the process.

Sources at the Western Regional Crime Office confirmed the robbery to the Ghana News Agency in Sekondi on Friday.

The police said the manager at the fuel filling station, Madam Linda Dazantar reported to the Kwesimintsim Police that robbers armed with locally manufactured pistols and machetes broke into the station and stole GHc1, 700, a Dell laptop and three mobile phones last Wednesday.

The security man on duty was also injured and is on admission at the Takoradi Government Hospital receiving treatment.

The Kwesimintsim District Police Commander, Superintendent Ayamga Akologo Yakubu and his men upon hearing the robbery went to the fuel filling station to assess the situation.

Supt. Akologo Yakubu advised fuel attendants and managers in the country not to sleep or keep monies at the filling station after close of work to avoid such attacks.

So far, no one has been arrested but police investigations are underway.
