Robbers attack Christ Apostolic Church

Accra, April 19, GNA – Five armed robbers on Monday invaded the premises of Christ Apostolic Church International at Osu fired shots and took away about seven million cedis.

The robbers, who used a blue Opel Astra car for the operation, trailed one of the Church’s Pastors and his driver, who had gone to withdraw 56 million cedis from the Osu branch of the Standard Chartered Bank, into the Church.

They, however, lost their trail and entered an office downstairs, while the Pastor and the driver took the money upstairs.

Mr William Saka, Property Officer of the Church, said three of the robbers wearing masks and waving pistols, entered the office and when they realised they could not get the money, started firing shots.

He said the shots scared them but one of the workers mustered up courage and struggled with them and in the process was hit with the butt of the pistol.

Mr Samuel Obeng Okyere, Osu District Police Commander, told the GNA that investigations would be carried out after statements of eyewitnesses have been taken.
