Robber shot dead

A 35- year- old Fulani suspected armed robber, has been shot dead by the Yeji police, in an exchange of gun fire on the Yeji high way.

Superintendent Alhaji Maama Arhin, Brong Ahafo Regional Crime Officer of Ghana Police Service told Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that two of the robbers have been arrested and are in police custody assisting investigations.

He said the incident happened at about 0300 hours on Friday between Kubiri and Sawaba village on the Yeji Atebubu high way when the patrol team was on their normal operations.

Supt Arhin said the patrol team during the operation came across a gang of robbers who have blocked the road with large logs and were attacking people.

He said the robbers on seeing the patrol vehicle approaching opened fire and the police returned killing one of the robbers who was wielding a G3 riffle.

Supt Arhin said the rest of the robbers escaped into the bush but were pursued by the police and managed to arrest the two.

He said the dead body had been deposited at the Yeji hospital.
