Roads to be blocked ahead of Nana Akufo-Addo’s inauguration

Ahead of Saturday January 7 inauguration ceremony at the Independence Square in Accra of President-elect Akufo-Addo, the Ghana Police has announced the blockade of some principal streets leading to the venue.

Motorists are to take note and and use alternative routes to and fro their destination.

Some designated areas have also been earmarked as parking lots for the ceremony. These include the forecourt of State House, the International Conference Centre, Intercontinental Bank car park, Accra Sports Stadium car park, the Ministries area, Afua Sutherland Children’s Park, the National Theatre, and the Accra Hearts of Oak car park.

According to the statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Superintendent Cephas Arthur only vehicles with assigned stickers would be allowed to pass through police checkpoints.

The directive is to ensure free flow of vehicular traffic and easy access for the invited dignitaries.

The routes are to be blocked from 4am on Saturday 7th January till after the ceremony.
