Road Safety Committee embarks on campaign in churches

Tarkwa (W/R) July 11, GNA – The Wassa West district Road Safety Committee has launched a road safety campaign in churches last Sunday. Led by its Chairman, DSP Effah Boanu, Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU), the Committee visited four churches at Tarkwa.

They were Saint Mathew Catholic Church, Trinity Presbyterian, Methodist and Pentecost-Tarkwa Central, Churches. In a message, DSP Effah Boanu told the congregation to be conscious of walking in single files along the road.

DSP Effah Boanu said cyclists should observe road signs like motorists, saying, one often sees riders facing vehicles instead of moving along in the same direction with vehicles.

DSP Effah Boanu reminded riders to always wear crash helmet when in motion because in case of an accident one can lose his life through head injury.

The MTTU Commander urged drivers and passengers to fasten seat belts where available and advised car owners to stop placing young children in the front seat. Rather, kids should be seated at the back and strapped with seat belts.
