Road Ministry dismisses Circle Interchange collapse reports

The Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange has undergone all the necessary integrity tests and has proven to be structurally sound, the Ministry of Roads and Highways has emphasized.

It says Ghanaians should disregard rumors that the under-construction project is facing collapse.

These were contained in a statement issued on Monday, June 27. There were social media reports that the piers of the overhead road were giving way to cracks, sapping the three-tier interchange.

“The so-called cracks on the piers are untrue and that the piers erected for the project are very strong, technically and physically, rumours” the statement said. It assured the public that the Interchange is “very safe for use and does not pose any danger to its users”.

The statement advised the public to desist from spur rumors that only cause fear and panic. “We shall ensure that the Ghanaian taxpayer gets value for the investment made in the project”.
