Anxieties are growing in Kwahu in the Eastern Region after the sudden disappearance of the queen mother, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III.
The Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, confirmed the situation on Monday, November 17.
He explained that in the early hours of Monday around 4:30 a.m. armed police officers reportedly invaded the Abene palace, where the queen mother lives, firing shots indiscriminately.
While the reasons behind the operation remain uncertain, the chief stated that several people were arrested. Only after they had been taken away did palace authorities realize that the queen mother was missing, prompting fears that she may have been abducted.
“The people were arrested into vehicles and taken to an unknown location. I called the Kwahu Police Commander to ask what was happening and whether he sanctioned the operation, but he told me he doesn’t know the people nor is aware of any operation,” he narrated.
Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III further noted that information available to him points to his predecessor, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II who was removed from his position in 2024 after ruling for seven years as the one who allegedly organized the raid.
The police have not yet released an official statement, and the location of the queen mother is still unknown.
