Rickety vehicles pose danger to passengers

People living in Osu and Cantonments who board commercial vehicles to Accra central said on Wednesday that they are worried about the rickety nature of such vehicles.

Some of the passengers told the Ghana News Agency that they felt uneasy boarding such vehicles but they had no choice because they are the only ones available.

Mr Kofi Owusu, a resident of Osu, appealed to the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service to direct its attention to those vehicles because they pose a danger to passengers.

He expressed regret that the owners and drivers of those vehicles appeared to be concerned only with their daily sales and therefore did not care about the lives of passengers.

Ms Samiratu Larbie also from Osu said because the vehicles were faulty and dangerous, the MTTU should team up with the VELD, the GPRTU and other stakeholders to take immediate steps to remove those vehicles on the roads.
