Richard Roberts donates to Otumfuo Education Fund

Kumasi, Feb. 2, GNA – The Reverend Dr Richard Roberts, the renowned American evangelist on Monday presented 43 million cedis to the Otumfuo Education Fund in Kumasi.

Presenting the money on behalf of Rev Dr Roberts, the Reverend Paul Frimpong, Chairman of the Ashanti regional chapter of the Ghana Pentecostal Council, said the donation was in recognition of the support the fund was providing the youth in the country to prepare for the future.

He therefore, commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his foresight in instituting the fund and for his support for Rev Dr Roberts and his team during their just-ended four-day crusade in Kumasi. Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who received the money, thanked Rev Dr Roberts for the donation and said the money had been donated for a worthy cause. In a related development, Rev Dr Roberts has pledged to support two Ghanaians with full scholarships to pursue any course of their choice within four years at the Oral Roberts University in the United States of America.

All bills of the would-be beneficiaries would be borne by him. Rev Dr Roberts made this offer when he and his team called on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia last Thursday before the start of his four-day crusade in Kumasi.

He gave the Asantehene the option to select the beneficiaries of the scholarships.

Responding, Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed his gratitude to the Rev Dr Roberts for his gesture and hoped the good relationship established between Manhyia and Rev Roberts would continue to grow.
