Reverend Minister urges soldiers to protect truth and justice

Accra, Aug. 27, GNA – The Reverend Father Cletus Segtub of the University of Development Studies (UDS) has urged soldiers to protect the truth and justice and desist from molestation and other vices.

He said Christians should eschew evil and nourish whatever was good.

The Rev. Segtub made the call when delivering the sermon at a thanksgiving service on the elevation of Lieutenant General Peter Augustine Blay as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and silver jubilee celebration of the ordination of Rev. Father Lt. Col. David Bangsiibu and Major Paul Hametowu at Saint Catherine Catholic Church in Accra.

These were contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Directorate of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

Rev. Segtub said Christians were soldiers in the Lord fighting not with weapons but the Word of God.

“As soldiers in the Lord, we should exhibit the character of a soldier which entails courage, perseverance, discipline, brotherliness and above all peacemaking,” he added.

The Rev. Segtub said the occasion was to celebrate militarism, the mark of a soldier which comprised discipline, dedication and hard work.

He described Lt. Gen. Blay as a humble, obedient, dedicated and a good soldier whose military life was worth emulating.

The Rev. Segtub called for individual and collective efforts to make the tenure of office of the CDS a success not only for the GAF but the entire country.

The CDS acknowledged God in his entire life, and thanked the clergy for giving him spiritual support.
