A circuit court at Wa has ordered the sale of a five-bedroom house belonging to a 60-year-old retired educationist, George Song-Aabo for failing to produce an accused person he bailed.
A valuation officer had, therefore, been contacted to value the house while a quit order notice had also been served to the tenants.
Prosecuting, Inspector Joseph Noble Mantey said Mr Song-Aabo on November 4 2002, used documents of his house at Konta, a suburb of Wa, to justify an 18 million cedis’ bail condition for an accused person, Fuseini Osman, a businessman, charged with fraud now at large.
Insp. Mantey said when the case was called on November 14, the accused failed to re-appear in court and his surety pleaded with the court for one month’s grace period to search for him and it was granted.
The prosecutor said on February 13 this year, Mr Song-Aabo again failed to produce the accused person and this compelled the judge to issue a judicial order for the sale or forfeiture of the house.
Insp Mantey said Osman, Yahaya Ahmed, 45, and Justice Kumi, 45, an employee of the State Housing Company, were facing trial at the Wa circuit court for defrauding Mr Issahaku Yuakubu, a Wa based building contractor of 31 million cedis under false pretences.
