Results of Super delegates’ congress lesson to Alan – Amoako-Tuffuor

Founder-member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Amoako-Tuffuor, has urged the three other flagbearer aspirants contesting the party’s two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, to take a cue from the results of last Sunday’s super delegates congress and bow out of the race. According to Dr Amoako-Tuffour, the candidates including former Ghana ambassador to the US Alan Kyeremanten, risk a more embarrassing defeat if they insist on going for the October 18 conference of the main opposition party.

The former Attorney General secured over 80 percent of the valid vote cast in Sunday’s elections meant to whittle down the number of flagbearer aspirants of the party from seven to five.

Kyeremanten who was seen as a frontrunner in the race managed just 7.97% of total votes cast – a performance which surprised even his own camp.

Dr Amoako-Tuffuor told Asempa FM he is confident the former attorney general will secure more than 90% of the votes in the October conference

“I don’t know how some people do their calculations. What happened on Sunday tells you how the people feel about our party. Nobody will force them to opt out but at least what happened on Sunday should have given them an idea of how the grass root feels about the leadership of the party.

“We need an individual who can defeat the NDC, give Ghana better governance and assemble the right people to do the job for Ghana”, he noted.
