Respect people in authority; Nkoranzahene urges youth

Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV, paramount chief of Nkoranza Traditional Area has called on the youth to be disciplined and respectful towards the leadership of the country.

He urged members of youth wings of various political parties to be mindful of their utterances as it could create misunderstandings which might result to communal and inter-party conflicts.

Okatakyie Kudom said this at a meeting with members of the Nkoranza Traditional Council on Thursday.

The meeting was to encourage them to initiate and facilitate processes of creating enabling environment among their people for the November elections.

The chief also used the occasion to clarify that Mrs Lordina Mahama, the First Lady, had no hand in the activities of any micro finance company in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Okatakyie Kudom said this in response to an accusation by some youth of Berekum on Wednesday, 6th January that Mrs Mahama had encouraged the people of the Region to patronise the activities of these micro finance companies.

Mrs Mahama, an illustrious daughter of Nkoranza, had nothing to do with those financial companies, Okatakyie Kudom said.

Okatakyie Kudom expressed worry that the Nkoranza South Municipality and the Nkoranza North District could not hold their respective local government elections because some youth of Nkoranza, whose deposits have also been locked-up in the micro finance companies, prevented the Electoral Commission from conducting the election.

He said the situation had stalled the development of Nkoranza North and South and election would be conducted soon.
