Residents of Kumasi in clean up surroundings

Kumasi, Feb 21, GNA – Residents of Kumasi metropolis on Saturday embarked on a massive clean-up exercise to enhance sanitation of the area. The exercise was held under the supervision of the Waste Management Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a private waste management firm. The residents cleared choked drains and weeds at the Central Market, Kejetia, Suame, Kaasi, Ayeduase, Bantama, Asafo and the Moshie-Zongo.

Mr Anthony Mensah, Director of the Waste Management Department of KMA, told the Ghana News Agency that the assembly decided to decentralize the cleaning exercise for effective work and monitoring. He advised residents of the metropolis to abide by by-laws of the assembly on sanitation. 21 Feb. 09
