Residents of Fijai happy with road project

Work has began on the Fijai/Obiri road, one of the critical road networks within the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.

A check by the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday revealed that the Contractor, “Asabea” had already cleared one side of the 150 kilometer dual carriage road.

The Fijai-Obiri Road is critical as it links communities such as Effia, Fijai, Ntankorful, Kansaworondo and other adjoining towns to the only referral hospital-The Effia Nkwanta Hospital in the Region.

Traders who conduct their businesses on the shoulders of the road had vacated the place as a sign of support for a successful road project.

Mr. Sulley Iddrisu, a spare parts dealer said when the road is completed; it would help in advancing economic activity in the area, adding “we will be free from the dust.”

Mr. Joseph Abieku Appiah, another trader on that stretch of the road, entreated residents to cooperate with the contractors to ensure that the work was completed on schedule.
