Reproductive health forum organised for students

Obuasi, March 24, GNA – More than 200 Junior Secondary School (JSS) students on Tuesday attended a day’s forum on adolescent reproductive health and HIV/AIDS at Obuasi.

The forum, which was organised by Youth Care Africa (YOCAF), an Obuasi-based Christian non-governmental organisation (NGO), was aimed at providing appropriate information to the students about their health and reproductive health.

Dr Samuel Osei-Somuah, the Adansi West District Director of Health Services, asked the youth to abstain from pre-marital sex. He called on individuals and organisations to support government in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Dr Osei-Somuah urged “The media to be circumspect in their reportage in order not to promote sexual promiscuity “. Pastor Emmanuel Kisseih, the Project Manager of YOCAF, appealed to teachers to educate school children on HIV/AIDS. Miss Rebecca Mensah, a peer educator, advised school children to abstain from sex and learn hard to enable them pass their examinations.
