Kumasi, May 22, GNA-A youth activist, has advised the media to widen the scope of reportage on alleged corruption by ministers of State or politicians to include civil and public officials.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, a former President of Youth in Action, a non-governmental organisation, noted that politicians were not the only category of people engaged in corrupt practices.
He was speaking on the topic: “The role of the youth in checking corruption” at a forum in Kumasi on Saturday.
It was organised by the Kwadaso Youth Christian Fellowship for leaders of selected Christian youth groups in the Kumasi Metropolis. Odeneho Appiah observed that even though in some instances civil and public officials benefited from corrupt deals politicians were always made the scapegoats.
He appealed to the Head of Civil Service to transfer chief directors and other officials of the Service regularly to prevent corruption.
Pastor Patrick Mensah of the Kwadaso Youth Christian Fellowship entreated Churches to adopt more pragmatic strategies to help instil in their members high sense of morality and that could help prevent corruptible lifestyles. 22 May 05
