Renowned veteran journalist Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng passes on

Renowned veteran journalist, Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng, has died aged 74.

Nana Kwasi, who was a former Chairman of the National Media Commission(NMC), reportedly died on Monday, May 26, 2025, in London.

The cause of death is, however, not immediately known.

Nana Gyan-Apenteng succeeded Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere as NMC Chairman from November 2015 to November 2018.

The late Consultant in Communication, Media, and Culture also served as President of the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW).

With over 45 years of experience in media, he worked as a reporter, editor, writer, teacher, and trainer. He served as a media trainer and communication consultant for numerous corporate, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organisations, including MTN Ghana, various UN agencies, the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), STAR Ghana, among others.

He was also the founder and editor of African Topics magazine—the only Pan-African publication devoted to governance and human rights.
