Renovated Computer Laboratory for Owabi School inaugurated

Owabi (Ash), June 30, GNA- A renovated computer laboratory for the Owabi District Assembly primary school near Akropong in the Atwima Nwabiagya district has been inaugurated. The facility which cost GHc1,000 was jointly financed by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School management Committee (SMC) and the community.

Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima Nwabiagya District Executive, who performed the ceremony, commended the people of the community and other stakeholders involved for assisting the school. He said it was the vision of the government to enhance Information Communications Technology (ICT) education, hence the new education reform and the introduction of the compulsory ICT centres for basic schools in the country. Mrs Diana Appiah, District Director of Education noted that the “world has reached a crucial stage where information technology had become the order of the day in facilitating communication and contacts among people around the globe”. She urged teachers and children to be abreast with the new technology in order to help build the capacity of the nations human’s resource development to a higher level. Mrs. Appiah called on the people to ensure regular maintenance of the facility.
