Accra July 8, GNA- The Tema Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), John Kudalor on Sunday commissioned a renewable Solar Powered Light System for the police at Sakumono near Tema to help the police work efficiently.
He said, “the current energy crisis in the country expose the police to risk in combating crime and personnel depend on touch lights and candles when the grid power is off”.
ACP Kudalor commended the Global Evangelical Church, Hope Chapel, Sakumono branch, the Association of Solar Industries, and Rural Energy, a non-governmental organisation for donating the facility.
The Regional Police Commander on behalf of the Ghana Police Service also donated 100 Ghana cedis (1,000,000 cedis) to the Church.
Reverend DR. Emmanuel Gbordzoe, the Moderator of the Church, noted that despite its limited resources, the police had relentlessly maintained law and order, ensured peace and protected life and property. He said “The dedication of the police to work motivated the Church to mobilize resources to install this solar powered light.”
Rev. Dr. Gbordzoe said the Church was committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to save human kind from destruction and to ensure the development members and non-members.
“The church does this by strategically mobilizing and using all physical and spiritual resources at its disposal, under the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit”, he said.
The solar panel is a 100-watt capacity system, which is capable of proving light to all the rooms at the Police Station. It also had a convector of 600 watts to provide AC power for basic electronic use of electrical equipment such as Motorola communication systems, radio, television sets and computers.
