Remembrance Day commemorated in Takoradi

Takoradi, Nov. 11, GNA – Two Garrisons on Thursday organised a parade and service to commemorate the 59th Remembrance Day Anniversary in Takoradi.

Contingents from the Second Battalion of Infantry, Western Naval Command, Takoradi Airforce Station, Western Police Command, the Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service and the Veterans Association of Ghana took part in the parade.

The parade was under the command of Squadron leader E. A. Adongo. Major (Reverend) Nii Addy Laryea led the service and was assisted by Flt. Lt. Abdul Rafiu, Imam and Reverend Noah Boahen.

Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister laid a wreath on behalf of the government and people of Ghana and Air Commodore Richard Awuku, Garrison Commander on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces. Other wreaths were laid by Mr George Asimah, Western Regional Police Commander on behalf of the security services, Awulae Attibrukusu, President of the Regional House of Chiefs on behalf of Chiefs and people of the region, Ex-Corporal J. K. Ghann, Regional VAG Chairman on behalf of ex-servicemen and Ex-Petty Officer Class one, Solomon Nana Amankwah, on behalf of expatriates.
