Remand robber allegedly steals at police station

Tema, Jan 21, GNA – An 18-year-old man who had been on remand for robbery on Wednesday appeared before a Tema Circuit court for stealing a suspect’s mobile phone behind the counter. Inusa Tahiru pleaded not guilty and continued to be on remand to reappear on the February 02. Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah, told the court that on the 15th of January at about 09:30 hours, Michael Ametodo, a steel bender was detained for his involvement in a theft case. She said whilst the complainant sat behind the counter at the charge office the accused managed to snatch a Nokia 1100 mobile phone, valued at GH¢ 55.00, from his pocket. Ametodo drew the attention of the Police Sergeant in charge who aided in the retrieval of the phone.
