Remain politically neutral and evenhanded – DCOP Boakye

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, has reminded officers and men of the police service to remain politically neutral and even-handed in the discharge of their duties.

He said they must not be seen to be supporting any one political party over the other as the nation prepared to go to the polls.

Speaking at an annual social event of the police (WASSA) held in Kumasi, he asked them to be professional to win the trust and support of everybody.

DCOP Boakye applauded the bravery, hard work, commitment and passion they were showing in the fight to bring down crime in the region and asked that this was sustained.

The expectation was that they would continue to give it their all to assure the people of adequate security protection.

Mr. Alexander Ackon, the Regional Minister, said the government was determined to provide the police with the necessary resources and logistics to perform.

He encouraged the officers and men to be disciplined and focused, adding that, they should avoid anything that would be a blot on the image of the service.

The occasion was used to recognize nine of the police personnel for outstanding performance.

They received certificates and citations.
