Remain apostles of NDC to retain power – Abio

Nyankpala (NR), April 6, GNA – Mr. Adam Mohammed Aminu Abio, Northern Regional Coordinator, National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), has asked National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s youth to remain “apostles and not detractors” in order brighten the party’s chances of winning the 2012 polls. He said the NDC youth’s involvement in violence and some acts of indiscipline in some parts of the country would gradually spell the party’s doom as its political opponents could capitalize on such incidence and change the party’s fortunes in 2012.

Mr. Abio gave the advice in Nyankpala at the inauguration of TEIN’s new executive of the University for Development Studies (UDS) at the weekend. He said the NDC as a party in government needed the support of the youth more than ever to win more hearts and to exert good governance to the people by implementing “The Better Ghana” agenda of the party. He said it was unacceptable for the youth of any political persuation to indulge in acts of violence, which lead people to perceive the party they belong to as undisciplined.

Mr. Abio assured the youth in the country that there were better days ahead and that the NDC would address their concerns gradually saying; “All problems cannot be addressed at the same time but through a gradual systematic process.”

He said carving out a new image for the NDC was more crucial than embarking on acts that would derail the efforts of the party. “Finding appropriate channels of addressing genuine concerns are the modern tools of agitation”,he said, and appealed to all the youth within the party to have faith in the NDC since their efforts in lifting the party from opposition to government would never pass unappreciated. He advised the newly elected executives to use their offices to win more hearts for the party to ensure that NDC retained power in 2012 to continue with its good developmental agenda.
