Religious ministers urged to lover their followers

Wenchi (B/A), May 31, GNA – The Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of the Sunyani Catholic Diocese has urged religious ministers and leaders to offer selfless and dedicated services towards the spiritual development of their members He advised them not to place their personal interests and welfare above those of their members.

Bishop Gyamfi was preaching at the ordination ceremony of 36-years-old Rev Fr. Peter Savio Kpen-Ana Kwaku at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at Wenchi.

The Bishop stated that religious ministers must be guided by obedience and prayers, adding, as people of God, they should love all their people without drawing lines among them, obey and respect their views in order that their members would be able to come closer to them and they would not make mistakes in their leadership and vocation. The Most Rev Gyamfi advised Rev Fr Peter Savio Kpen-Ana Kwaku to live above reproach as a role model in the community and prayed that God would shower his blessings upon him to be courageous.

The newly ordained Catholic Priest was born and bred in Saru, near Tuna in the Northern Region in 1970 and acquired his basic education in Botenseso and Nchira, both in the Wenchi District.

He attended Kisco Commercial College at Kumasi and later at Our Lady of Fatima Vocational and Business College at Wenchi, between 1973 and 1995 after which, he went to the St. Francis Formation House in Accra.

Between 1977 and 2000, he studied in Nigeria and Tanzania and obtained a first degree in philosophy.

From 2002 to 2006 this year, he was at Nairobi, Kenya, where he obtained a degree in theological studies. Rev Fr Peter Savio Kpen-Ana Kwaku served at Don Bosco Vocational Institute at Odumase, near Sunyani as Assistant Principal and Youth Chaplain.

A number of Catholic Priests, as well as relatives and friends of the newly Catholic Priest attended the ceremony. 31 May 06
