Religious leaders urged to promote Christianity

Prophet Nigel Gaisie, Leader of the True Word Prophetic Fire Ministry, has called on religious leaders to eschew all forms of negative tendencies that could tarnish the image of the clergy.

He said the selling of holy water, anointing oil and paying consultation fees before services were rendered in some churches, tend to bring the clergy into disrepute.

Prophet Gaisie made the call at the opening of a three-day conference of the church in Accra.

The conference, which is on the theme ”Back to the Days of Prayer,” is aimed at praying for the total liberation of the bondage, the afflicted and the sick.

It is also to pray for the peace and stability of the nation ahead of the 2016 General Elections.

Prophet Gaisie said the word of God was not for sale, adding that, “it was given freely and freely must it be given to all.”

He charged them to seek the welfare of their members instead of portraying themselves on expensive billboards.

He said the church has opened an orphanage in Sierra Leone, and that, plans were very far advanced to open another one in the country.

The Leader said the church had been offering soft loans to their members and the community to enable them to expand their businesses and expressed the hope that participants would be equipped, both physically and spiritually, to overcome the challenges ahead.
