Mamponteng (Ash), Jan. 2, GNA- Religious bodies have been urged to take immediate and stringent measures to arrest the continued moral degeneration, especially among the youth in order to prevent leadership crisis in the country.
Mr William Boakye Baafi, Assistant Organising Secretary of the Konongo-Mampong Diocese of the Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO), who made the call, said indiscipline and other social vices such as alcoholism, drug abuse, fornication, armed robbery, bribery and corruption posed a threat to the leadership of the nation. There was the need therefore, for religious bodies to intensify their moral education campaign and institute measures that would instil morality in the youth.
Mr Baafi was speaking at an end of year get-together of the St. Joseph’s Parish CYO at Mamponteng in the Kwabre district, on Tuesday. He compared the youth of Ghana today to those in the era of the Biblical Lot and Noah, where due to their persistent sins, God ruined their land and said if Ghanaian youth failed to change their attitude the nation could face similar wrath.
