Religious bodies’ tree planting day falls on January 27

Accra, Jan. 10, GNA – The National Planning Committee (NPC) of Ghana @ 50 Golden Jubilee celebrations has declared Saturday, January 27, 2007, as the day for religious bodies to plant trees. “The theme for the day is; “Plant Trees: Plant Hope”.

It is the fourth in a series of days set aside by the NPC to help restore and sustain the country’s environment.

A statement signed by Mr Henry Wellington Okyne, Public Affairs Officer

of Ghana @ 50, directed all churches, mosques and other religious groups throughout the country to plant trees at their places of worship or within their own communities.

Seedlings may be obtained free of charge from any forest services division in the country, it added.
