Relief Items For Fire Victim

Drobonso (Ashanti Region), 6 Nov. The National Disaster Relief Management Committee has presented relief items worth 515,000 cedis to Miss Agnes Nkoah, a fire victim, at a ceremony at Drobonso in Ashanti. The presentation coincided with the familiarisation tour to the town by the District Chief Executive for Sekyere East, Mr Kwame De- Graft Agyei. The items were made up of one packet of roofing sheets, two blankets and two students vono mattresses. Presenting the items, the Sekyere East District Co-ordinator of the committee, Mr Mohammed Boakye Agyemang, said government cannot cater for all disaster victims and advised the people to take precautionary measures against bushfires and not to wait until disaster strikes before action is taken. In March last year, the house of the 38-year-old teacher of the Drobonso Presbyterian Primary School who runs a night club, was burnt while she was asleep. Items lost included a tape recorder, a video deck, a standing fan, a bicycle, a sewing machine, 75 bags of maize and a large quantity of groundnuts.
