Relatives of deceased urged to inform EC to delete names from register

The Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Stephen Opoku-Mensah, on Friday appealed to relatives of deceased persons to use the exhibition of the voters’ register to inform the EC to delete names of the dead from the register.

He also urged Ghanaians to notify the Commission about unqualified persons who managed to register during the previous registrations so that their names would be expunged from the register to ensure a credible register before the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Opoku-Mensah spoke to the GNA in an interview in Takoradi ahead of the exhibition of the voters’ register in 2,618 polling stations in the region.

He said display of the voters’ register would provide opportunity for Ghanaians who registered in 2012 and 2014 to check the correct spelling of their names, gender and any omission.

The EC would display the voters’ register at all polling stations across the country from October 24 to Thursday October 30.
