Relatives name murder suspect

THE man currently being questioned by police over the murder of a Dartford doctor is believed to be the son of the victim’s best friend.

Relatives of Dr Victoria Anyetei, who was found stabbed to death in her car outside her home in Teynham Road, Dartford, have named the suspect as David Quartey.

Mr Quartey, aged 21, of Humber Road, Dartford, is thought to have arrived in Britain from Ghana two years ago and is believed to have lodged at Dr Anyetei’s home.

Interviewed by a national newspaper, Dr Anyetei’s brother, Gilbert Anyetei said: “Victoria was like a mother to him and I am deeply shocked that he has been arrested.

“He is not a relation but he is like family. They were as close as family.”

The man was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday (September 26).

A post-mortem examination revelealed Dr Anyetei, aged 54, died of stab wounds to her upper body.

The consultant paeditrician had left her home on the morning of August 14 to go to work at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, when she was attacked.

Her body was discovered by her 20-year-old son.

Kent Police are refusing to confirm the identity of the man arrested.

The investigating team is still appealing for any information that could be connected with the doctor’s murder.
