REJOINDER: Fake Christian ‘susu’ scheme exposed

Our attention has been drawn to a news item published on your website, myjoyonline.com/pages/crime/201202/82148.php on February 27, 2012 on “exposed fake Christian ‘susu’ scheme”.

The story mentioned a 30 year old Ms. Theodora Boatima Dza Darkwa who was arrested for allegedly defrauding about 1,000 contributors of more than GHC 1 million in the name of her ‘susu’ and loan scheme called Mother of All Nations (MONA), ostensibly for the Christian group called Youth for Christ.

The leadership of Youth for Christ, YFC, Ghana and for that matter, Youth for Christ, International/USA, wishes to correct the wrong impression that may have been created in the minds of the general public as regards this cherished, time tested and life-impacting organization.

YFC, Ghana, has since its establishment in the 1960s, been focused on youth evangelism and building of young Christian leaders. The group is not profit making and has never been associated with any ‘susu’ collection or any profit making scheme. Youth for Christ only partners with churches and like-minded organizations and individuals to spread the gospel to young people wherever they may be.

Ms. Theodora Boatima Dza Darkwa is neither known to any member of the leadership of Youth for Christ, Ghana nor is she known to have been a member of Youth for Christ in Takoradi or any YFC ministry in Ghana.

The leadership of Youth for Christ, Ghana wishes to assure the general public and all YFC members of our commitment to the vision of reaching every young person in every nation with the gospel of Jesus Christ and disciplining them into the local church.
