Reinhard Bonnke hosts Peace Crusade

A world renowned Evangelists, Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda would be in Ghana for the Greater Peace Gospel Crusade scheduled for November 7-10, 2013 at the Independence Square, Accra.

The three-day crusade, which is under the auspices of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches (GPCC), Association of Independent Churches and the Christian Council, is to consolidate the peace that characterized Ghana’s 2012 elections and the Supreme Court election petition.

Bishop Samuel N. Mensah, Chairman of the Local Planning Committee at an interaction with the media on activities lined up for the programme, stated that the objective for organizing the crusade was to consolidate peace in Ghana.

He said the last time Reinhard Bonnke came to Ghana was in 1985, which is nearly 30 years now.

He said GPCC, partnering with other churches, decided to host him because Reinhard Bonnke is over 70 years old and getting ready to exit the ministry, and also to raise other generation leaders such as Daniel Kolenda.

He noted that Evangelist Bonnke has raised another leader in the person of Evangelist Kolenda, who he would be introducing in Ghana.

Bishop Mensah said the Working Committee was engaging the media to educate and inform the public, and that the Committee cannot get the job done without the contribution of the various media organizations.

He said the crusade intends to transform about one million souls, who would be saved, thereby reducing the crime rate in the country.

He said despite the numerous laws in the country, there is lawlessness all around, adding that, laws do not change people’s behavior, the people who hold the key to transform attitudinal life are the religious leaders.

Reverend John Darko, Africa Director of Christ For All Nations (CFAN), said since 1974, CFAN has held crusades in Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, India, West Africa and South Africa.

He said since the year 2000, over 52 million souls have been saved and converted to Christianity.

He said the reasons why Ghana was chosen for this crusade was because Ghana is the gateway to Africa, as well as the peace and the political stability the country enjoys.

“God is about to cause a revival in Ghana that will spread to the whole world” he added.

Rev. Darko further noted that the crusade would bring immense benefits to Ghana in terms of bringing churches together to organize the crusade, adding that, millions would gather for the first time without political affiliation.

He said some foreign investors would also be coming along with Reinhard Bonnke to explore areas of opportunities in the country.
