Rehabilitate our roads- Farmers at Bontrase-Obonase appeals to gov’t

Awutu-Obonase (C/R) Oct. 8 GNA- Yam farmers at Awutu-Obonase, in the Central Region, have appealed to the Government to rehabilitate the feeder road linking the farming community and Awutu-Bontrase to facilitate the carting of food products to marketing centres. The appeal was made through the Assemblyman for Awutu-Nfadwn-Ayiresu, Mr. Daniel Assomaning.

The farmers said the deplorable state of the road had been compounded by the destruction of the only culvert on it by flood water. Mr. Assomaning said large quantity of “Nkani ” yam specie produced in the area were getting rotten, due to the bad state of the road. He said investigations he conducted indicated that the road had been awarded on contract over a year ago and therefore appealed to the Government, to compel the contractor to expedite action on the rehabilitation works, to alleviate the suffering of the people.
