Regular exercises could reduce heart problems-Youth Leader

Effiakuma (W/R), March 08, GNA – Mr George A. Naikin, Chairman of the Effiakuma Circuit of the Methodist Youth Fellowship, has said the lack of regular exercises among Ghanaians was a major reason for increasing heart related diseases.

He said the youth should make regular exercises to reduce their susceptibility to diseases.

Mr Naikin was addressing members of the Effiakuma Circuit of the Methodist Youth fellowship after it had undertaken a 10-kilometre fitness exercise on Monday as part of activities of the 48th independence anniversary celebrations.

It was on the theme “Keep fit and live” and was attended by members from the seven branches that constitute the Circuit.

Mr Naikin advised the youth to abstain from pre-marital sex, avoid the HIV/AIDS trap and live with the hope of assuming leadership, serve as role models and inspirers for younger children in their communities and in the church.

“It would be sad to die young or become a burden on society due to sickness and not contributing your quota to national development”, he said.

Mr Naikin appealed to churches to assist their youth to develop their leadership, managerial and entrepreneurial skills that would make them self-reliant, independent and create employment opportunities for others.
