Registration Runoff Wa

Most registration centres in Wa Township had closed when GNA went round on Monday to monitor the last few minutes of the two-week exercise. A few people had queued up at the Adonis Cinema Palace Centre and Environmental Health Centre “A”. At Dobile Low Cost Housing Estate Centre, Mr Joseph Nyaapi, Registration Officer, told the GNA that about 40 prospective voters could not be registered because of shortage of materials.

By 1700 hours the Limanyiri Centre “A” and the Consumer Credit Limited Centre had closed due to shortage of materials. Mr Peter Kunkpe, Registration Officer at the Wa Central Market Centre, observed that the EC had underestimated the number of prospective voters, since he ended up registering 600 people instead of the estimated 500.

Mr Sylvester Gariba, Registration Officer at the Environmental Health Centre “B”, said even though most of the centres ran out of materials before the final day most of the people had registered and there was no need for extension.
