Most registration centres in the Accra Metropolis recorded low registration turnout on the last day of the exercise. There were no queues at the registration centres visited by the GNA in the Osu Klottey Sub-Metro District However, most of the centres visited between 1800 hours and 1830 hours had already closed with a few officers seen packing their registration materials.
When the GNA got to the registration centre at the SIC Club House, Osu, at about 1805 hours, there was no official around to talk to. But at the G’Maa Temporary Booth at Osu, 27 people had registered at the close of day, while 31 people had been recorded at Mawule Temporary Booth, also at Osu. Mr Eric Michael Narh, Registration Officer, said the Centre recorded the peak number of prospective voters on the first day of the exercise and the lowest number of six persons on Friday, March 26. Mr Isaac Lamptey, Registration Officer at the G – Maa Temporary Booth, said a total of 851 people registered in the two-week period.
At the same centre, GNA met a lady, Grace Adjetey, who had come to register after 1800 hours, but the RO turned down her request. Ms Adjetey said she did not know her house number and had to wait for her landlord for the information hence her lateness.
