Ho, May 23, GNA – Registration centres in Ho were without much activity on Sunday, the last day of the Photo Identification Card exercise in the Volta Region, which started on Tuesday May 18. The GNA on its rounds on Sunday morning found out that some of the Registration Officials were not busy and all they reported that there were high turn outs and the exercise was in order.
At the High Court Centre, 25 people out of the 278 persons on the electoral roll were left to take their photos for identification cards by mid-day.
At the GBC Revenue Office Centre 406 out of 469 had taken their pictures, 406 out of 500 at the Museum Centre had taken their photos and 573 out of 632 had taken their pictures at the Anglican Primary Centre. At the Pentecost Centre near the District Assembly, 697 out of 775 voters had been processed by 1100hours, 435 out of 463 at the District Assembly and 956 out of 1,022 at Temporal Booth, Dzah, where Mr Stanley Ansah Registration Officer there said he expected some rush after churches had closed.
Mr Muhammed K. Adoquaye, Volta Regional Director of the Electoral Commission told the GNA that trend in Ho was the same as in other parts of the region. He said: “So far so very, very good”, but conceded that there were problems such as the high wastage of films leading to shortages. Mr Adoquaye said, the final figures collated would determine the mode of the mopping up exercise, promising that as it happened in other exercises in the past, there could be an opportunity for people who missed this turn to take their pictures.
